How to Use CareForAmma
Every guide and tool on this site follows a few repeated patterns. Once you know them, you can use any page without re-learning anything. This is the two-minute version — a page-specific 20-second tour is also one tap away, on every page.
The Quick Tour button
Look for a small ❓ button in the header (next to search), or "❓ How This Page Works" in the mobile menu. The first time you visit any page with something interactive on it, a short tour pops up on its own after a couple of seconds, pointing out exactly how that page works. Dismissed it too fast, or want to see it again? Tap ❓ any time — it never stops being available.
Finding what you need
Search (header icon)
Tolerant of typos and everyday phrasing — try "POA" or "power of attorney," "catarct" or "cataract," "yojana" or "scheme." It matches on title, description and keywords, not full page text, so if a search comes up empty, try a shorter or more general word.
Jump-pills & sidebar menus
Long guides have quick-jump pill links near the top, or a sticky sidebar menu alongside the article — both skip you straight to the section you need without scrolling.
Saved Pages
Tap the star icon in the header to bookmark a page for later — saved entirely in your own browser, so it's there next time you're on this device, with no account needed.
Site-wide, not per-page
Search, Saved Pages and the Quick Tour all work the same way on every single page — learn the pattern once.
Interactive tools & calculators
Pages with a boxed set of tappable options — a rent-vs-buy estimator, a hospital-type matcher, a scheme eligibility checker — all work the same way: tap an option for each question, then tap the button to see your result. Nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere — it's all calculated right in your browser, and refreshing the page clears it. If a tool offers a "Copy share link," that's the one exception, and it only happens when you tap it (see Sharing, below).
Checklists & saving your progress
Checklists (packing lists, admission-day steps, emergency-ready plans) work differently from calculators — your ticks are saved automatically to your own device as you go, using your browser's local storage. Close the tab, come back next week, and your progress is still there. A "Reset" button clears it and starts over. None of this is sent to us or stored on any server — if you clear your browser's site data, or switch devices, the progress doesn't come with you unless you've shared a link (below) first.
Sharing — a page, or your progress on it
Share any page
The share icon (near the top of most guides, and in the footer) opens WhatsApp, email, a plain copy-link, or a QR code someone can scan — useful for siblings who aren't big on reading long pages themselves.
Share your checklist progress
Where you see "Copy share link" on a checklist or tracker, it builds one link that carries your current ticks. Anyone who opens it sees the same progress and can carry on from there — no login, nothing stored on our end, ever.
We deliberately never use WhatsApp-only share links sitewide — every share option always includes a plain copy-link too, so it works regardless of what the recipient has installed.
Languages
Where you see a language toggle (English / हिन्दी / ಕನ್ನಡ, sometimes more), Kannada is treated as reliable — it's the one language a native speaker verifies directly. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam are machine-assisted: good for getting the gist quickly, but worth cross-checking against the English version for anything medical, legal or financial. A handful of pages that don't yet have a full translation show an honest "English-only for now" note rather than silently switching you back to English without saying so.
Trust & honesty — what you'll always see
No ads on crisis or tool pages
Anything written for a family mid-crisis, or any interactive tool/checklist/senior-portal page, never carries advertising — no exceptions.
Labelled, not hidden
Content written with AI assistance and not personally fact-checked by a clinician is disclosed as such. A promoted listing or a referral link is always labelled as exactly that, distinct from independently-reviewed content.
No commissions on care
We take no commission or referral fee from any care service, agency, nurse, or attendant mentioned on the site — that's a hard rule, not a marketing line.
"Last updated" means it
A freshness date only moves when that page's content was actually re-checked or genuinely edited — never bumped sitewide just to look current.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is anything I type into the tools saved or sent anywhere?
No. Calculators and matchers run entirely in your browser and don't save or transmit anything. Checklists and trackers do save locally to your own device (via your browser's storage) so your progress survives a refresh, but that data never leaves your device unless you deliberately tap "Copy share link" — and even then, it's a link, not an account.
How do I share my progress on a checklist with a sibling?
On any checklist or tracker with a "Copy share link" button, tapping it builds a link that encodes your current ticked progress. Anyone who opens that link sees the same progress and can keep going from there — no account, no sign-up, nothing stored on our servers.
Can I see the quick tour again after dismissing it?
Yes — tap the ❓ icon in the header (or in the mobile menu) on any page to replay that page's short tour whenever you want.
Are the Hindi and Kannada translations reliable?
Kannada translations are done or checked by a native speaker and treated as reliable. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam translations are machine-assisted — useful for getting the gist, but for anything medical or legal, cross-check with the English version or a native speaker if something reads oddly.
